FINANCIAL

How to Support Our Parish Financially

Pre-Authorized Remittances (PAR)
PAR is invaluable to the parish in these times as these contributions still arrive even if you can’t. For the parish, PAR provides a steadier and more predictable stream of funds. This is extremely helpful for budgeting and planning for larger projects. Contact the Parish office at 902-826-2696  or email engagehap@gmail.com. The PAR form is available to download here

Canada Helps (Credit Cards can be used here)

You can now make donations to Holy Apostles Parish through Canada Helps. Through this safe and secure site you can support any Canadian charity and centralize all your giving. If you choose to use one, a free account allows you to track all your giving, set giving goals, manage monthly gifts, and more. Choose to receive an instant tax receipt after each donation or a summary receipt at the end of each year for all donations.

For those who have asked about using a credit card, Canada Helps allows you to donate using one. You can make one time or recurring donations.

HOLY APOSTLES PARISH

Cemeteries

SPRING IS HERE!

With the opening of the parish cemeteries on May 1st, a few timely reminders.

All Interments must be arranged through the parish office, at least one weeks' notice would be appreciated.

Because the parish will have only one Priest going forward, Interment prayers will be facilitated by a lay minister, if requested.

The cemeteries are the responsibility of the parish to maintain and protect.  Donations make these necessities possible.  All donations must be payable to Holy Apostles Parish and can be earmarked for a particular cemetery, or in memory of someone dear.  These donations are gratefully accepted, and a tax receipt will be provided.

CHALICE

We have been advised that our child from Chile, Bryan Jesus Herrera Gomez is no longer in the sponsorship programme. Below is a message we received from Bryan's Mom.

"Dear Godparents,

This is Lorna Gomez writing, mom to Bryan Herrera.  We are very grateful for all the help you sent to Bryan which was very useful for both his feeding and studies.

At present, we will move to another city called San Felipe which is far from Santiago.  For this reason, we cannot keep being part of the Project.

Bryan and his family are very grateful.  May God bless you abundantly!  Thanks a lot for all your support!  I say goodbye to you with gratitude.

Your Godchild,
Bryan Herrera & Lorna (mom)"

A sincere THANK YOU to all who participate in Chalice.

Stay tune - next Bulletin
as we introduce
the child who is replacing Bryan's spot
in Chile.

PONDERS

ACTS 1: 1-11; PS 47: 2-3, 6-9; EPH 1: 17-23; MK 16: 15-20

We often cite Jesus’ quote from today’s Gospel of Mark: “Go into the whole world and proclaim the gospel to every creature.” This was not a suggestion from the Lord. It was quite frankly a command, and it is one which still holds for each of us. Being an evangelist, being a disciple, being a steward is not a matter of choice for those of us who are Catholic and Christian. It is something the Lord expects of us.

Often, we may like to spend time debating how to do that, but that does not lessen the fact that it is something we are supposed to do. We need to acknowledge that even the original Apostles and followers of Jesus did not do that immediately. We learn that they stayed in Jerusalem for some time, and it seemed to be only when the Church and its followers were persecuted that they began to reach out and truly share the “Good News.”

Once Christians accepted that charge from the Lord, they did indeed take the Word of God to all corners of the earth. Look at the Church today. It is incredible how this Church has grown from one Man/God and a small group into what it is today. That does not, however, get us “off the hook.”

As much as we may argue about how to carry out this command from Jesus, the fact remains that our very lives need to stand as a representation of what it means to be a Christian, what it means to “love one another,” what it means to live and to work as a disciple of Christ.
